My Top Skincare Tips

When it comes to skincare, particularly ageing, I think it’s so important to focus on the quality and health of my skin. I love reading through blog inspiration on  ‘how – to’s’ for my skin or a different, fresh take on an everyday skincare routine. Ageing well, is a priority for most women – as long as we can keep our skin fresh and glowing, our hair healthy and looking fabulous surely we are ahead of the game!

Post children and as we approach 40 and beyond our skincare products will often need a revamp. This will be due to the changes in hormonal balances that occur during this time. The key to looking fabulous (regardless of your age) can be dependent on using the right products to suit your specific needs. As we age our skincare routine should begin to focus on products designed to tackle moisture loss, wrinkles, sensitive skin and colour/ pigmentation changes that may not have been present before. I’ve picked out a few products that I absolutely cannot live without – here are my top 5!

5 top products

  1. Neals Yard Mothers Balm

This 100% organic and fragrance free balm has been an absolute go to of mine since pregnancy and beyond. With a blend of skin- nourishing oils and beeswax it not only improves the appearance of stretch marks but it is also clinicially proven to increase skin’s firmness and elasticity.

2. Moisturiser

Currently I use Environ face cream which really seems to suit my skin. It contains vitamins A&C, antioxidants & peptides to help keep you looking youthful… it definitely keeps my skin feeling nourished and hydrated. They also have great sunscreen which I use everyday regardless of how sunny it may be.

  1. Foundation

I am not keen on thick, caky foundation but prefer to go for the youthful dewy look.  I’m hope that’s what I achieve with Laura Mercier’s Illuminating tinted moisturiser. Packed with vitamins and SPF it is giving you sun coverage as well as a daily vitamin boost.

  1. Lip gloss by Terry Baume de Rose-

It might seem quite expensive for a small pot of lip gloss but not only does this gorgeously smooth gloss last longer than expected, is also feels amazing on the lips, keeps them beautifully hydrated and smells like a rose in full bloom.

  1. Water

When 60% of your body is made up of water it’s hugely important to keep hydrated.  Doing so helps maximise physical performance, keeping you alert and motivated, increases concentration and does wonders for your skin.

If your skin is not getting sufficient amount of water, the lack of hydration will present itself by turning your skin dry, tight and flaky. So make sure you drink at least 2 litres a day for that radiant, healthy, younger- looking complexion.

While these are my go to products and suit my skin everyone is different. It is really important to do your research when looking for a new skincare revamp so you really know what’s best for you. As this is not my expert field I have been doing some research of my own! Through my search I have picked out my top 5 beauty/ skincare bloggers who really focus on enhancing the ‘natural’ look and ultimately keeping ageing skin. Go check them out – and please let me know your own suggestions/ top picks!
